1. About the BlastBeat Programme
BlastBeat Education is a youth entrepreneurship programme where students aged 13-18 form Event Social Enterprises (ESEs) to plan and execute real events.
What Your Child Will Do
- Join a team of up to 36 students
- Take on one of 14 business roles (CEO, Finance Manager, Marketing Manager, etc.)
- Plan and promote a real event (concert, sports tournament, talent show)
- Handle real money, budgets, and business decisions
- Keep 75% of profits as a team (they decide distribution)
- Dedicate 25% to a climate action project of their choice

2. Why We Need Your Consent
Under South African law (POPIA, Children's Act) and international standards (GDPR, UN Convention on the Rights of the Child), we require informed consent because:
- Your child is under 18 years old
- We collect and process personal data
- Activities involve real financial transactions
- Events may be photographed or filmed
- Participation involves supervised but real-world experiences
3. Consent Categories
We ask for consent in several categories. Some are required for participation, others are optional.
REQUIRED – Programme Participation
I consent to my child participating in the BlastBeat ESE programme, including attending training sessions, team meetings, and the final event.
REQUIRED – Data Processing
I consent to BlastBeat collecting and processing my child's personal data (name, age, school, contact details, programme performance) as described in the Privacy Policy.
REQUIRED – Financial Participation
I understand that my child will participate in real financial activities including handling event budgets, ticket sales, and profit distribution. I consent to my child receiving their share of team profits.
REQUIRED – Emergency Contact
I consent to being contacted in case of emergency and authorise BlastBeat facilitators to seek emergency medical treatment for my child if I cannot be reached.

4. How We Keep Your Child Safe
- All adults vetted: Police clearance and safeguarding training required
- Supervision ratios: Appropriate adult-to-child ratios at all activities
- Risk assessments: Completed before all events
- Online safety: Platform monitored, inappropriate content blocked
- Insurance: Public liability coverage for all programme activities

5. Your Rights as a Parent/Guardian
- Access: Request a copy of all data we hold about your child
- Correction: Ask us to fix any inaccurate information
- Deletion: Request deletion of your child's data
- Withdrawal: Withdraw consent at any time
- Complain: Lodge complaints with data protection authorities

You can withdraw consent at any time by contacting your child's school or emailing consent@blastbeat.education.
7. How to Provide Consent
Option 1: Online Form (Recommended)

Your school may provide paper consent forms. Return the completed form to your child's teacher.

Email consent@blastbeat.education with your name, relationship to child, child's details, and which consents you grant.
8. Frequently Asked Questions
Can my child participate without media consent?
Yes. Media consent is optional. Your child can fully participate without being photographed for public use.
What happens to the money my child earns?
Teams decide democratically how to distribute their 75% share. Funds are typically distributed via school or parent/guardian within 30 days of the event.
Is this taxable income?
This depends on your country's tax laws. BlastBeat is not a tax advisor. Consult a tax professional if you have concerns.
